Just thought i would share what we do over here with the XC loop. Its only about 4.5km long but should be good for an after work ride or even a quick play on an afternoon. We have plans to make this loop twice the size with a decent pump track/skills area (still searching for technical data for the pump track) Been given next week to make a start along with a handful of helpers and a JCB.

Before pictures:

To be bermed.

Will be technical decent:

Drop in for our lil jump:

Will add more as it gets built, quite a bit of woodwork to go in. Should have taken more pics!

Its not that far away so would be good to get over there again, some parts where just added in like across the grass and over some mounds, ok

Is this not on MOD land?? Im sure i could get a few more riders for a sample visit :-)

Liked driving along the runway to get to it lol

It is MOD land but i work there so its ok :D I think MSG for Carver Barracks is Apr 2015, but dont quote me.

So, was a busy week building. Unfortynately we didnt get the help we expected from the station but nevermind, maybe next time. We did get this though.....

Made life a lot easier, still had to move alot of mud by hand/barrow. Without it we would still be on the first roller.

Also managed to get some woodwork in, the 1 who cannot be mentioned was the main culprit for this.

Its starting to look good in some places, but not even half way around yet.....

So week 1 of the remodeling is over, glad in a way as i am done in with moving mud  away next week learning to maintain mountain bikes officially (so i can get work to buy loads of nice tools, oils and grease etc) but should be back up there building again after that. Could do with some ideas for the woodwork as we dont want it all to be the same over and over. Unfortunately, being on a disused airfield it is pretty flat so is a case of making the best of what is there.

Added a bit more wood so beginners (like me) dont face plant off the end.

One of the berms (need it to bed in so we can finish shaping the face)

Best tip for the woodwork is to get some chicken wire on it before it turns into Slippery McSlippy having a particularly slippery day with a bottle of baby oil ;)

We talked about this, but apparently its not allowed on race days so we are looking at non slip paint and other alternatives. Its always super humid in those woods, even on cold days, and a green moss grows on everything. The woods are left to there own devices and not maintained at the moment. The older trees are being choked by all the smaller ones. It needs a good cut back.

The course for the event probably won't be finalised until the Friday before. All depends on the weather. I am away doing my level 3 bike mechanics course until the 27th (including weekends) so will miss it myself unfortunately.
