And I'll be there, at the Nevis range near Fort William.
It's my 2nd attempt to complete a 24 hour solo. Got the email from the organizers with all the relevant details and already feeling a bit nervous!

For the race I'll ride my new weapon, the Lynskey 650 pro hardtail titanium.. I've found the titanium seatpost + 2.2 rear tyre combo is very good for my lower back. Not much tyre choice, X king front, race King rear both 2.2. Have a spare set of the protection version and I'll make my choice after a pre ride of the course next Tuesday. 2 friends of mine from Catalunya are coming to participate on rigid single speeds hardtails so I won't be alone. Trying to convince a mate to come for these 2 weeks, then I could have a helper.

Very strong field of UK riders, preparing the event for months. For me I'm aiming to stop as little as possible. Another thing to take into account is the amount of hours in the dark. AT least 13. I have the Gloworm X2 1500 lumen and 2 small batteries for helmet, it's very light and good beam pattern. For the handlebars the super reliable lumicycle bought few years ago. Only 1 big batter and 900 lumen On top of that I'll rent one of those 6 pack exposure lights.

I'm planning to explore the trails around Torridon before or after the evnt

I like that bit about the blue normally being a decent but it'll be a climb in the race :D

Also just got my calculator out.... One lap is 13k so say you average 1 lap per hour ( no idea if that is realistic ) you'll climb over 11,000m.... 11 kilometres of UP now given that Everest is only 8,611m I'm going to say that is quite a lot of climbing :wtf:

Good luck Javi and I'm already clicking kudo on Strava

Hahah!!

First thought was 1 lap per hour = 24 laps.
I did a marathon in Austria, 210km and 7000 metres climb under 16 hours. 24 laps would be 322km and 11000metres and it's almost about the same proportion?

Compared this course versus 24 hour FInale Ligure one in 2013 (I was there helping in the pits) and has a similar climb and distance ratio, the climbs were rocky and technical. I found it quite tough for 24 hours race.
Once the event finished I was doing laps trying to mimic a 24 hours pace, going very slow at the steepest climbs and got 12 km/h speed in 87km + 3000metres climb over 7 hours. I had tons of energy left to be honest.
So if the course isn't that demanding + being fitter than 2013+ having the race number in the bars = 24 laps? I don't know...
I'd like to finish having fun not having stop other than mandatory food, clothes, toilet and light stuff. If I can clock 24 laps or get a better position that's a plus.

Ridden the course twice. It's very hilly, rocky, technical for 24 hours and lots of fun downhill singletrack. Did a single fast lap in 48 minutes, so it's not possible 1 lap per hour average.

If you've not found him on the timing link... Javi is 10th in class out of 18... was 17th on the first lap... so making progress
