Hi there. New to mountain biking to keep fit through winter. Have a hybrid for the summer months.

Registered after seeing the Danbury track(s) and fancy having a go.

Unfortunately I've passed by best being 46, battered from old motorbike accidents and slow from heart attack a few years ago. Can't keep an old dog down though ;)

So, are there other older, slower guys that go there, or will I get mown down by young speed demons?

Cheers

Paul

Just had my 44th and also just taking up the non motorised two wheeled fun, waiting for the delivery of my bike, then getting out there. I will also get over to the Sunday rides at Epping eventually but Danbury is only a few miles away from me so going to be up there most of the time I think. Might well see you about Paul. Have fun.......

Hi Piers. Might see you there as Danbury is also closest for me, that is once I work out where the good bits are. Only got the bike this week so am totally new to off-roading.

Maybe we should hook up some time and wobble round it together, my bike isn't being delivered till end of the week but when I'm ready I'll pm you if you fancy it...

Lol, sounds cool :)

I'm pretty slow, but love the look of the Danbury track.

Pm me when you've got the hang of it. Only had mine a few days, so we really will be wobbling around :)

Hi guys,
I'd like to join at some point if that's cool.

went for a 'moderately' paced ride with bugeye and the bunch yesterday and realised moderate is too much for me:(:(:(
I should be good for most sunday rides although Danbury is a little further away for me. Hopefully, my shoulder will be ok by next week (fell off on the first muddy corner!) and I can join if you guys are going Danbury.

my average speed is about 6mph so if that feels about the same for you guys, I'm in. beats being last and falling way behind and getting lost lol
getting out of puff too quickly is my current problem which I'm hoping to change.

Would you guys say slow pace is the key in this group ride?

cheers
Hass

Hi Hass

6mph sounds about right. My average is around 7.5mph on the two rides I've done, but that really needs to be slowed down because my heart rate got too high.

We'll definitely be the slow club :)
