As I'm stuck inside ( like most of us :( ) on a rainy Sunday I'm thinking about the next ride :)

Wondering about maybe having another go at this next Sunday....

Image

.... and seeing how much further I can get ;) Aiming for 40 plus miles depending on the conditions.

Anyone fancy joining?

Some important stuff....

From the last time I think most of it should be ride-able.... It's mainly bridleway and tarmac ( very quiet B road and single lane stuff ) but there are a few sections that I'm pretty sure will be a foot deep in mud and need pushing through by now. There isn't much single track but the route was good to ride with a few challenging climbs ;)

It's not really a beginners ride due to the distance and climbing but there's nothing technical or difficult.

You REALLY need to be self sufficient.... to be able to deal with a puncture, weather, carry enough food and drink ( really important ) and to be happy to get yourself back to the car park if you have to bail.

I'm not aiming for a blistering pace but I'd like to keep it fairly constant.

Would be an early start... 8:00 at Ivinghoe Beacon to make the most of the 8hrs of day light.

So in summery start 8:00am ride away from carpark for about 3.5hrs... turnaround ride back :D

There look to be some killer climbs on this. Not sure I can do it on the 30th but It'll go on the list and I know a few nutters that would likely be up for it as well ;)

Oh mate, you know I like a bit of adventure and decent mileage. I would have been up for this but I am off to Isle of Wight on Sat for the Wiggle ride. Give me shout next time you are planning this.

We must find time for the Wrotham & Ightham loop again one day (yes, I did have to Google the spelling). Too long to wait till spring/summer.
