Is this 'the norm' on FSR frames?

I've put some more clear tape over it, but I guess it won't last long. The rubbing has quickly got down to the metal.

That looks like the cable is too tight? Is it close to the rear end moving up and down?
Pretty bad, how long you had it?

About three weeks or so.

This is how it's routed.







There is a small holding bracket where the blue F is. Difficult to see.

That looks pretty nasty I would suggest heli taping the frame I got invisi frame for mine and took an hour to fit in the lounge watching telly with the missies
So not too tricky

This is the only reference I can find for the routing on another Enduro, it looks a lot slacker than mine.

Unfortunately I've heard a bit about the specialized routing under the BB, from memory there was a big thread on bike radar about it.

Get some sugru underneath it - should resist the rubbing for longer - or stick on a adhesive cable guide to keep the cable away from the frame!

Ouch that looks nasty, but a layer or two of helitape should help (never thought of using sugru so will have to remember that)

I've never had that problem before on my FSRs but like Ian said there have been posts about this online. Strange though as you seem to have enough slack on the cables under the BB?..

3 weeks old, and how many miles? My advice is back to the shop. The least they should do is provide the tape or stick on guide. I would send an email to the manufacturers as well. May get some freebies for your ride. I know pretty much all bikes get cable rub, but that is pretty bad imho and although it may be out of the way and not that noticeable, you know it is there, and why should you have to start taping your frame up because of it?

Pretty similar to my cable routing, had no rub at all and bike is 18 months or so old.

It's going back to the shop tomorrow. I will be politely asking if this is normal.

If I push the frame up and down with my fingers on the cable, it has the smallest of movement, but clearly enough to rub hard against the metal. I am amazed it is through the clear plastic frame protector and through the paint!

I think the cable is too tight against the frame, it makes me wonder why a routing clip is not placed on the inside of the arm?

I have done 113km since the 6th Dec when I bought the bike. 2/3rds of this is off road.

I've used some Lizard Skin leather/Carbon frame protector.



And pulled a little more cable rear wards



The Lizard Skin stuff is really good, very thick, has stuck to the frame really well. Also came with a much longer frame guard strip should I need to re-apply it.



Should this fail, I have an option 2. A Spesh chain guard. It has a hole in it at exactly the right place for the cable bracket.

That lizard skins look good, much better than what the rubbing left behind!! I was looking for some decent frame protection today and so I've just ordered some lizard skins.

Have you thought about fitting a cable guide under the BB? Tempted to fit one on my spesh now - just to keep the cables in place....
