Right; time for an update on my new fat bike.
Have been for a few rides now and I'm getting used to the way it handles, a few thing to change more of that later.
Did a 23 mile ride last Sunday, didn't have quite enough pressure in the rear tire. Had to pump up as best I could with my mini pump (have now got a Topeak Mountain morph pump).
Really enjoyed the ride, got used to the wide BB (100mm)quite quickly, But the bounce from the rear end has improved since I increased the pressure to 10psi. The front is the same as well now.
It rides over or through anything as long as the peddles are turning, that's were I usually fail
It not a bike for getting somewhere quickly, up hill it's a low gear even on road, and the humming from the tires is great to hum along to
But off tarmac is where the fun is
It is a real hoot, it just fly's over roots, loss gravel is a breeze, soft sand and mud just floats over.
Went for a ride tonight (Thursday) no rushing anywhere just a nice plod round the Stock area Found a few nice runs through some woods on loss dry dirt, and the bike just rails round corners. the only thing is hard packed dry mud along bridlepaths that have been rutted by horses hooves, the bounce if you hit them at speed.
Improvements to my fat bike.
Go tubeless.
New lock on bar grips. Current foam one don't cut the mustard.
Possibly get a frame bag for tools & kit.
Shorter stem. I'm used to the one on my full sus Norco.
May be carbon bars & seat post to loss a bit more weight.
Trev.
