Looking at getting the MET Parachute or Bell Super 2R for a bit more protection on the more rocky trails in Wales, the Alps, etc.

I know the Parachute is meant to be well ventilated but just wondering how hot it would be on climbs though, e.g. at Afan, Cwmcarn and whether it would be more advantageous to have the option of the removable chin guard??

You know my thoughts, I wear mine everywhere.
Although the bell super 2 is a neat idea it's not as strong, and eventually you will realise that there's no point to keep taking the chin guard off.

I'm almost in same camp as Ian (aka Mr Bell Super 2R Hater).

I don't think there's anything in the strength but where I would personally come a cropper is when you forget to stop and put the chin on and then come off on a descent.

Being totally honest the Parachute is a little warmer but it's really not like a proper full face and I wear mine all the time in all weathers.

I love my Bell, but then I often ride on the road for half hour to Danbury and then fit the chin guard when I get there.

Bell Super 2R will give a bit more versatility I would have thought - both good lids. I think the 2r looks a bit cooler

Zee Germans have the best prices for this helmet..
The front chin is supposed to be better than the bell and parachute because it's made from toughened fibreglass, that's what i read somewhere..

Also worth keeping an eye out for the new laser helmet that is convertible.

I dare say a couple more will Crop up over the next year or so

My Bell Super 2R is very comfortable and have worn it all day in Wales and other places too. Great adjustment and ventilation too. Easily remove the chin guard and have a trail lid and back on again for gnar stuff.

Always two camps in the helmet wars, some good deals on the Bell helmets and it has a added gopro mount too

More colours too with the Bell, know thats important to you ladies having choice and colour matching options

Initially was going with the Parachute as for the colours I like in this and the Bell, it comes in a bit cheaper and also being 'full-face' certified. It's mainly the potential 'overheating' that was making me question it...

Like the option of the removable chin guard for climbs where it gets a bit warm.

When i went spain last year i took the helmet as hand luggage, i was able to dismount it to make it fit not a problem in the bag. I would ride with the chip bar either attached to the bag on my back or around my neck (depending on the distance and terrain covered)

See which fits best as the decider. I got a Parachute for Christmas having found it for £109, although the same supplier is now charging £150 for the latest very colourful ones.
Only used it a few times so far and in colder weather so still early days. Feels like less padding on top/front area compared to my Giro Hex when you first put it on, but other than that I like it and it really does add to confidence going downhill.
Agree with what the others say about it being sod's law that the time you take off the chin bar on the Bell will be the same time you faceplant. And detaching the chin bar just for climbs and having to carry it seems a lot of faffing.
