All welcome.

Question for anyone local to the Takeley/Hatfield Forest end.
Is there any suitable all day parking around there?

If not, will be parking at Braintree station.
Starting /setting off at 10am.

Will be getting to the car park for 9:30.

Same applies if we can park somewhere at the Takeley end.

Will be riding my fatty.

Trev

Been draged to Freeport this morning!!

Did drag my better half to Braintree station to check the car parking.
Station road car park: Sunday 7am-7pm £0:50p.

Nice cheap car parking, was plenty of spaces well.
Post code for station is CM7 3QL.

Hope this is for help for anyonewho wants to join me.

I would join but I'm working :( colleagues in Halfords tell me the Flitch way is reasonable fun too so a bit gutted to have missed out on a chance to have some tour guides of it. Good to know how cheap the parking is though, had been wondering about that!

Will be good, can definitely meet at Rayne station.
Won't take too long from Braintree station.
There's a cafe there can have coffee and cake!!!!!!

Any other takers??

The flitch is an old railway trackbed so straight, flat and unchallenging but an easy way to get 30 or so miles in. If it's been wet the the section around Dunmow can get a bit boggy.

It is flat, straight and undulating but if it's wet or windy then it's the hardest way on the planet to get 30 miles in!!!

This is very true. Lived in Dumbo(dunmo) for a while & was riding glitch way regularly as was recovering from surgery & could ride before I could walk.
It kept me reasonably sane

The more the merrier!!!
Won't be too taxing a ride plenty of time to do 13 or so miles each way.

I like riding old railway lines its a good way to see the country side with out having to use roads.

I'm guilty too, moved to Maldon & have followed the old train lines around here . Stow maries to Woodham bit still makes me giggle with headphones in, heavy metal on & PEDAL :D

Hi Trev,

Long time no see. Welcome to my turf! See you at Braintree carpark ( and let's see how fast a Fatty can really go!!!)

Not sure if you know but around Dunmow there is a board walk section and then onto some good mud (about a mile long called butterly lane -I think)...ideal for a fatty!

we can compare routes on the day! Weather also looks good. Also good to advertise this route for newbies....you can't get lost!

John

Hi Oldman river,

Yes definitelylong time no see.
Will be nice to catch up with you.

I have heard about the infomus Dunmow section, I did run along it a few years back in winter.
Looking like the weather will be good.

It's me that will hold the fatty back!

Going to have to give this a miss. Somehow snapped the band on my front mech on Friday and not quite sorted the new one yet. Have a muddy one!
