Exciting times, but for the trails to double in size, so will all the facilities need to be. Still only 1 toilet and no showers. Car park fills up already and the wait for the busses well...

I love the place though.

I agree the infrastructure these is starting to feel the strain!

Also why don't the buses run 08:00-18:00 ?

That would mean it was much less strain, all the locals could start and finish sooner and the out of towners could start later.

The buses do run later in the lighter summer months (never know when that is in Wales though   )

They have 8 buses now as well.

But also that main building will be way too small to cater for the amount of trail riders they are wanting to open for. Also see somewhere that a Park and Ride service operates on race days to cater for the influx of traffic, how safe your car will be in Merthyr Tydfil is another thing :? :?

Fuck parking in MT.

If you have a break down during the day then you have to pay shop prices.

I had a snapped gear cable on one visit as well as a puncture.

Another visit saw a snapped brake lever, lost chainring bolts. Def don't want to be paying out for too many shop fixes.

LOL I had a twisted bead on a rear tyre so paid their shop prices for fitting new one + fluid   wanted to carry on days riding so paid up.

The place is great and I like it their, can have fun all day, eat the food then drive home satisfied I have quenched my MTB riding bug. Oh and the beer they sell is also good too, just need to stock more of it.

I love the trails and the uplift is sound.

The parking and the running hours are my bug bears.

I think the addition of Publi Bike maintenance stands are a good plan too.

Increased parking is covered as part of this doc on page 5 - adding 56 new spaces

http://plandocs.merthyr.gov.uk:81/North ... 048286.pdf

on a busy day they are deffo at the max in the cafe and toilets . I guess its a good issue for them to have but long term they will need to think about it. :)

Id like to see them put in a couple of really good xc loops - like Afan has. It would make it more of a 2 day destination.

I started this thread in Feb, 2012 when it was just an idea... and its amazing to see where it is 4 years on.

Do hope Hadleigh see what BPW is doing and adds more to site no to go on about it but how much money did Hadleigh to BPW ?

Google:
Quote:
A total of £6.8m - mostly from the council, but with £2m from external investment

Hadleigh see this and do what

Different environment their in Essex. More a XC track as opposed to trail centre.

BPW will probably still build all this and get it up and working in the time it took Hadleigh to discuss their carparking

It is annoying but they need a decent amount of swing round I guess.
