I ride Thorndon and Weald mainly as I live in Brentwood.

Half decent fitness level, but that's probably just my opinion and not fact especially when riding with other people

Looking to meet up with people who ride Thorndon on Sunday mornings.

Ideally looking to get off of the normal paths and find some off piste action :P

Anyone or any groups around I could tag along with, should be able to keep up hopefully

Cheers

Richard

Hi Richard, I'm another newbie near Thorndon, still discovering the place. Keep an eye out in the Rides forum for any Thorndon meets to tag along on and follow the people who know it better.

Yeah theres always rides going on in thorndon, most sundays 09:30 starting at the kart track. but i will do another organised ride soon but just not this weekend as will be in braintree for the MSG race.

Damo is also a brentwood boy, also like sto show himself to the big jumps stuff now too, i'm too scared for this nowadays also Robertpb invented thorndon so would be able to show you round.

For now I think I would like to keep on the ground rather than the jumps but I had skills as a kid on my BMX maybe they will come back to me :)

Cheers for the info and will look out for any organised ride you do VW-Surfbum

In the meantime might stalk the other names to see If they are about

So would you say, hanging around the go cart track this Sunday at 9.30 is a good idea to tag on to people, or do they wonder why a guy on a mountain bike is staring at them?

Cheers

R

No definatly just turn up!, there's always people about and if you dont see anyone it means the god of trails wants you to go big or go home! LOL
seriously there's always people about in thorndon, so if you dont see anyone at the kart track, follow your nose and head that way.

I have some gps maps fron Endomondo and Everytrail if you want them.

Sounds a silly question, do you mean GPS maps as in data to put in a GPS device (I don' have one of those)

or juts a visual map?

I'll give it a try this Sunday may bring one of my mates along so there is someone slower than me ;)

Endomondo is a piece of software on the phone that uses the smartphones gps to track and log the route you do.. Most use this for logging the routes.. If you have a smart phone as such (htc, iPhone, bb etc) you can install it then upload the routes to it and follow... If not you can always refer back to mk1 map or known bearings and direction in ya head 
