Well done. I did the 12 hour solo last year at the same event. Torchbearer is the night time one isnt it? I remember finishing and thinking people were nuts to be starting a race at midnight!

Great write up Javi. Amazing that you rode there and that you went out for an 11th lap when you could have slowed slightly and called it day at 10. Congratulations and very inspiring mate.

I was offered a last minute place by someone unable to make it. I turned them down and went to the peaks instead but aim to get there next year.

Thanks!

Paddyb:

Yes, it started at midnight. We were only 22! How was it last year?

Beardee:
As I had decided at the end of lap 4 that I could do 11 then that was my goal. And it was almost ruined in lap 9th for mechanical issues. I'm sure I'll do more 12 hours solo in the future, yeees!

Karve:
In fact my fastest lap was the 6th, but stopped at the beginning of it for around 5 minutes to leave the 2 light systems (6 pack exposure 490 gr and lumicycle 400 gr), take off velo jacket, get food...Also felt fresh after my stop at the end of 4th and the long time to fix the puncture at the beginning of 5th.

Anyway, there were less riders to stop you on hills or technical parts at the end plus the course got drier. I swallowed a caffeine gel at the end of 9th lap and that helped, I guess. I remember pushing like mad on that 10th lap with gear problems. Bemused!

Nutrition was key for the race. I had no stomach aches at all. I felt slightly weaker sometimes but lasted not much.

Ian, 2 hours is nothing for you! If in doubt, don't burn out and start slow; you'll pick up some cadavers during last 30 minutes.

Rob, no worries. We're on holiday!

Have you got any races/events planned other than 12/12?

Mountain Mayhem? But on a team of 4. Apart from that, Brass Monkey Series and Thetford Winter Series.
