"The range of Allen keys in the small range is good. Having a 2.5 is great, as for some reason ODI like using them on their grips."
Features
- The Birzman E-Version 15 Function Mini Tool weighs 127g, which is light.
- The range of Allen keys in the small range is good. Especially the 2.5 which for some reason ODI like using on their grips.
- The Birzman’s chain rivet extractor is silky smooth. Annoyingly it seemed better than my big workshop version I bought a few months ago!
- The E-Version mini’s extensive spoke wrench options are useful. It’s nice to see one specifically for Mavic wheels.
- If you want a little more or less functionality Birzman has an extensive range to suit.
- A 10mm allen key option would have been a useful addition.
"I’ve left the tool sopping wet and it has remained resistant to rust and marking."
In use and durability
- It’s a very compact flat tool. This means I was happy slipping it in a short pocket without worrying that it would hurt when falling on it. This is useful when riding DH, as I often don’t take a pack.
- I’ve left the tool sopping wet, it has remained resistant to rust and marking.
- It looks great and the polished finish kept itself scratch free.
- Despite my usual ham fisted tinkering the Birzman E-Version mini’s allen keys resisted rounding
- Due to its flat, wide, minimalist shape it will never be the most comfortable multitool, but it should be more than enough for most situations.
Final Thoughts
The Birzman E-Version 15 Function Mini Tool is tiny but has a lot of features. It's light weight and low profile design makes it easy to transport. It can slip in a short pocket or a small pack without issue. The tool is good quality and has a lovely mirror finish to it out of the box. We have gotten it wet and dirty without it showing any signs of rust or wear so far. Tolerances are good and it’s a competitive price. It’s not the most comfortable to use but that is the price you pay for its light weight and slim design.Find out more about the Birzman E-Version 15 Function Mini Tool here.
