I had a lovely ride today out to the rspb place..27miles,tea, cake and a burnt head..just what i needed...that was until i got to winkletye lane...it was before the hill that goes down to the school, that this fookin bus over took me...the front of the bus was about an inch away from my handlebars and when he was about half way past he pulled back in the lane..f@$k me it was so close, if i hadn't have moved my shoulder and swerved i would have gone under!!!..he sped off like nothing had happened, but got caught in traffic down by the school..i caught up and went a bit loco..i know violence aint the answer, but all i could think was, you just nearly killed me coz you couldn't wait for 20 seconds...anyway,note to self..them windows will not break with ya hands...he drove off and when he got just past the school, he pulled over coz there was two cops on bikes...i pulled up and thought i was gonna get nicked, but the police was really cool..hats off to em...i have written and email to the bus company and hopefully they will pull him up on it, and hopefully i wont end up on crime watch...crazy a...Z

Your lucky then, could of been much worse. ive had similar experiences riding in london, but then cyclists are hated by most drivers in anything in london.

I've lost count this kind of thing happened to me cycling in London. I used to be more bothered and give people a mouth full but I dont get surprised by it any more... I just assume the van will pull out on me and the bus will go past like your not there.

I don't know why we're hated, we might slow other road users up a bit at times but generally a bike is quicker - your back infront of the van that bust a gut to get past by the next set of lights. Like most stereotypes, I think for some reason the idiot riders tar us all, people remember the crazy light jumping, pedestrian buzzing one not the few waiting or 'sensibly jumping' (after the pedestrian light is red and you know the light sequence and yours will be green in a second etc). It's best some ties to get infront so they can turn left on you! Anyway I'm sure you all know...

Lucky for you, I got hit last night just by Woodford County School, just by the lights opposiute the castle. Block tried to get through the gap I was in and clipped my rear end. I stayed on the bike but I went mad and I mean mad. I think I was so pissed off with hom he said sorry and asked if was OK.

I got lucky but I've had much worse crashes riding down the DH tracks on the bike that all I had to show was a tyre mark on my rear pivot.

Too many cyclists die on the roads a..there have been a couple of high profile ones at the bow flyover recently and a well known courier guy a couple of months ago..but the saddest one for me was the was the death of Gary Mason the british heavyweight boxer..so sad and unnecessary..i suppose its a risk we all take when we jump on..ride safely people..Z
