Who do people insure with ?
my home insurance only covers up to £1000 in one claim

to replace my two bikes let alone the rest of the armour helmets etc is around £2000 maybe more.

insurance seems very high on current quotes

to increase cover on the house it increases the premium from £83 to £250+

I'm in exactly the same position...found this site:
http://www.money.co.uk/bicycle-insurance.htm

Got a quote from one of these sites for theft coverage on a 1000 pound bike, came out at 100 per annum. I figure warranties should cover most parts for breaks etc...

Seems slightly high, but 10% of total cost seems OK. Cost of living in London maybe...

My contents insurance only covered up to £500 but when i spoke to them they extended the cover for my bike for a small extra charge, cheaper than getting seperate insurance.

It seems the current insurers on the house want to switch the policy to a different type, god knows why

Both my bikes are covered with the ETA http://www.eta.co.uk/ and I have never had a problem with them. Someone tried to steal my bike a few months ago and they sent out someone to cut the lock off and if the bike was unridebale I would have got a lift home as well.

They will insure pretty much any value bike against any kind of theft providing you have the correct grade locks and its left inside your house. I think they also do race cover but im unsure if that applies to off road use as the risk in the bike breaking is a lot higher.

My house insurance covers me up to £2000 and I'm using Nationwide.

Only probelm is I know have two bikes and to be fully covered I need to take out seperate insurance which isn't cheap.
