Bike to work scheme!

i just got an email from my employers supplier saying that although the deadline for ordering bikes has now passed im still able to order anything from the website and get 17% discount for the rest of the term!
might be worth checking with your scheme suppliers to see if this is the case for everyone!
17% off is better than nothing me thinks!
also they have some very high end bikes available so not to be sniffed st!

Do people still do Bike To Work schemes?
I bought my bike through a scheme a few years ago and found that I wasn't getting the savings predicted in the sales pitch. I think you can negotiate a better deal in store at your LBS although if you haven't the cash up front then 12 months interest free is the only selling point...in my honest opinion .

Im paying £550 for rockhopper expert thus saving £250 !

Dang I bought a Spec FSR and paid about £900 in the end. Frustrating as most articles claim a ~45% saving

Surely there's no "discount" what's happening is because they take money from your wages to pay for the bike before tax your just paying less tax and Ni for the duration. Thus saving a certain percentage.....

Yep but out of my pocket £550
we get a discount because there is 5000 of us!

Ohh i see was gonna say im suprised they offer such a discount because they have to pay the scheme 10% of every sale aswell.

Unlike other schemes we only make one final payment that is exactly the same as the 28 previous and then the bike is yours to sell.
i think on some others you have to make a larger payment at the end!
either way i got a bike to mess about on and all i have to get is 1 hour overtime a month to cover it!

My work (the government) don't do the C2W scheme as it was used by many as a tax dodge LOL but they do give us up to £1000 to put toward a bike and its interest free before tax etc.

Yeah mine worked out ~£65x12mths and then i had to pay a final fee of ~£200. hardly worth it for me.

...although as i type this i realise thats £65 before tax and NI

Think we only got it this year bcoz of olympics they were worried we wouldn't be able to get to work by car!

This scheme has kept me in bikes for the last 4 years :-)

each one I have not paid over the odds for and sold on only two of them at no loss to me.
