Why doesn't the council want accidents to happen? Is there a legal point of view to consider - who is actually liable?

Back in New Zealand we have a government funded org called ACC that deals with rehabilitation of people who have accidents - MTB riding is considered accidental personal injury and is covered, meaning ACC will pay for all rehab services, to the point of training you for and sourcing alternative work if you physically cannot perform your previous role due to the injury. Healthy people = productive people.
ACC obviously have an interest in lowering accident rates...what is the councils interest in lowering accident rates at Danbury? Is it similar to ACC's, or a simple economic issue, i.e. funding of ambulances etc? Or is it a touchy feely "we're 60 so we don't like people doing anything other than playing golf" type of an issue?

Regardless, I agree riding stuff you're not capable of riding is pretty silly. Might give Danbury a miss for a while yet!

Don't let this put you off danbury it is a great place to ride for all levels as long as you don't do anything stupid!

I ride all over Danbury there is lots of single track climbs and xc all over Danbury and little baddow on top of the jump/freeride spots

Danbury has some really good xc trails to warm the legs up.. We often do this route, can string together a good 12 - 14 miler. Then finish of on the downhill jump section. All good stuff and you do what you feel like doing... And capable off.

I personally think anyone who rides the jump sections or good xc with no helmet or in- appropriate gear is just pushing the boundaries that bit too far.. This is my opinion.

The land owner is always liable. Even saying that you ride at your own risk doesnt help and signing a disclaimer isnt worth the paper its written on.

This is why its so hard to get trails 'legal' as such. No land owner wants to pay for pubilc liability insurance.

If people are sensible, trails last for ages. As soon as you get noddys turning up on Halfrauds special bikes who smash themselves to bits, problems arise. But its impossible to police most trails, especailly places like Danbry.

If you dont push yourself to do stuff you know you cant do, your never gonna get better. And with that comes the inevitable crashes. But sensible people prepare for that and pad up.

Who actually digs at Danbury anyway??

Crazy...that just seems wrong to me. Personal responsibility etc etc.

All the 999 calls are logged as to where the accidents are, if a lot get logged in one place the authorities step in to find out why.
