that would be cool, i mean i have no idea how fast i would be, i am really keen to give it a go... anyone know any dates and try to get a random little crew gathered?

I would be up for that too, but probably next year when (hopefully) i'll have the capacity to get to more races and also invest in some quality body armour to prevent the wife worrying as much! I only did the aston black run race and 1 round of blings summer series at porc this year but loved them both and would highly recommend racing.

um dates right:
next mr bling race is 25th september at porc.

the 661 mini dh race dates are:
December 4th 2011
January 29th 2012
February 26th 2012

I'm assuming these will all be at fod although they had one at chicksands once. Entry isn't open untill october.

could do... unsure how that would work, is anyone else interested or would it work better if we picked an envent that isnt taken too seriously and then ll enter?

Simple- need at least three people.

Choose four places to raise. One person at the start, one at the end- holding a stopwatch. Start person is on moby to end guy. Says when to start the timer. Requires a bit of chivalry and honesty but would work.

Do three timed runs, and the best counts.

Do points for 1st, 2nd, 3rd.

£5 in the kitty each race- winner takes 3/4, 2nd takes the rest- given out after the final.

Easy peasy!

We are talking unofficial mates races- can use them for training and experience.

The others are actual races, and yes, let's have it.

Although unofficial mates races are fun, if you want an intro to dh racing (as per thread title) just turn up at an official race like blings series at porc, mini dh, ukbp, aston etc. you can't beat the real thing for training and experience. I'm not saying don't do a mates race cos would be up for that too.

Sounds like a good idea. Are the races at the official venues a must attend weekender, series or one off?

If it is a series, can you just ride the races you can make (obviously missing out on points on races missed)?

the races at aston that usually happen are just stand alone events but usually you get a series of races e.g mr blings at porc and ukbp winter series.
yeah you just race the races you can make.
its good to make a weekend of it, you usualy get practice on saturday/sunday morning then the race runs sunday.

Danbury and chicksands. I'm trying to get to to Woburn...maybe my next trip?

Going to go to braintree BMX track to practice my pumping and increase my fitness over winter.

Want to try porc in the DRY as yesterday taught me.

I'm put off Aston by the massive long route to the top again- but can see the experience to be had of the roots.

I want to also go to UKBP and FOD but don't want to drive hours there and back on my jack, and would well prefer actually knowing who I was travelling with well before hand as well.

That sums it up really!

At the moment I dont have my own transport to get anywhere other than my local spot which is norfolk. When i did have transport I ride Aston, Chicksands and PORC. Would like to get to Danbury, go back to the FOD (would like to do the mini DH in jan and feb) and go to UKBP.
