Whilst cleaning the steed at the weekend, i noticed this big dent in the sidewall of my rear wheel.

Think i done it at Afan a few weeks ago.

It looks a lot worse in the pic!

Any ideas as to what to do with it?

Cheers,

Robby

Tyre off and use a small adjustable spanner to slowly bend it back into shape. It won't be perfect but it should be ok for a while.

^^ careful with that as the rim is aluminium, make sure its warm before you try to bend it or it will crack, you don't have to cook it, just lean it against a hot radiator for a few hours, and then when you've bent it put it back against the rad and remove for a while, then let it cool down to room temp, don't shove it straight outside onto a cold garage/shed

Ah yes I normally use a blow torch from a distance, not had a rim failure because of that yet.

Personally i'd warm it and hold a block of hardwood on the outside and balance a shaped piece of hardwood rthat fits on the inside and whack it with a lump hammer keep it warm for a bit and then let cool.

It sounds technical but isnt, just try to avoid quick temp changes (i'e dont quench it)

I'd leave it alone unless it makes you ride with a bump you are more likely to mess the wheel up than fix anything
