Hi All

Just signed up to the forum, so first of all hello!

I used to do a fair bit of road cycling, but that all stopped when the wife and kids came along - the usual story! So, being totally unfit, I decided I wanted to get back in the saddle but fancied a change so have just bought a hardtail MTB.

With a budget of £500 and after reading up in some of the specialist mags (MTB UK etc), I opted for the Carrera Kraken from Halfords. Now I know that the Carrera range is frowned upon by some, but it did win the best entry level bike in MTB UK!! And my plan is that if I really get into it, then I can upgrade to something a bit more tasty in a couple of years - it'll take me that amount of time to convince the wife that I can spend more

I live in Tiptree and keen on giving Danbury a go. Now when I say I'm a MTB newbie, I really am, the only offroad I've done so far is up and down my back garden a couple of times when I first got the bike So would any of you really kind people out there be interested in guiding a total begineer around Danbury and maybe showing me a few tips etc one weekend over the next few weeks?

Also, if there's anyone local to me who's up for getting out on the bikes, give me a shout!

Welcome, I too am looking at getting to Danbury not riden there before.
I'm with you some kind of guided ride would be welcome.

It can be quite hard to find the best XC routes without any local knowlage.
