Having failed to get organised in time for the Essexhersmtb Forest of Dean uplift trip planned for the 28th http://www.essexhertsmtb.co.uk/php/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2044 - have just booked in for Sunday 29th along with Chris144.

Anyone else keen?

Details and booking here:

You should just come on the 28th, the uplift isn't really needed. Once you push past the first slope the rest is esy, you can even ride it up the fireroad. Once you get to the top there are several runs that finish at the fireroad so you can just ride back up again. I think there's only 2 runs from the fireroad down to the very bottom. I only walked to the top twice as I was being lazy. I'm only planning to take the uplift a few times, just to get to the top and then I'll play on the top sections efore heading down for a drink and food, then the uplift back up again. I'll be walking from the bottom of the top runs up the fireroad most of the time.

Already booked for the 29th but agree it is doable without - in fact am planning a non- uplift FoD sess for later this year and blending the DH tracks with some classic trail riding

Grin - think Chris144's mate has had to drop out so if you fancy it might be worth PMing him...

Looks like it might be a tad moist mind - the EssexhertsMTB crew going down the day before look like they may have the best of the weather!

No photos or videos from today but Stevo posted up some videos from yesterday's trip here:

http://m.stefan3112.pinkbike.com/channel/Forest-of-Dean-2842012/

In terms of today - here's a 10 point ride report in the style of Karve:

1. FoD was very wet today (again) - top tip from Chris144: use a Sainsbury's carrier bag to keep your saddle dry whilst travelling to FoD, that way yoy'll have a nice dry saddle for literally 1 minute at the start of the day
2. Despite being very wet, FoD is a super fun DH spot with super quick uplift and good value for time spent on the bike - we managed 16 runs in total
3. It rained a lot at FoD today (am now running at 7 wet days out of 8 trips there)
4. The weather (it was raining a lot today at FoD) meant that Chris144 and I had the uplift all to ourselves for the last 5 runs up the hill
5. The sharp LH turn at the top of the OC is a bugger to ride clean in the wet
6. There was a lot of rain and a lot of water on the ground at FoD today
7. Continental Mud King DH tyres are the business! Seriously good tyre - like a Wet scream / swamp thing hybrid that rolls really well and grips amazingly (that'll be the Black Chilli compound) - recommended!
8. Ski run was running well all day - definitely the most flowy in the wet
9. It was definitely not a day for riding in a blouse - would have ended up all soggy and saggy
10. Did I mention that it was very wet and muddy at FoD today and rained a lot, all day with the rain only stopping just as we finished the last run of the day!!
