Good bikes them pitches. :)

Its about the rider not the bike. If youre new to downhilling have you thought of a skills lesson?

Neil off here has had a pitch for a few years and has a bit more of a downhill set up, bigger forks, bigger wheels etc.

Ive got a pitch comp and any limit is the rider not the bike (although the shock and wheels need upgrading) it feels fine on black runs in Wales, peaks descents, on the steeper parts of the surrey hills.

Thing is although im new to downhill i come from a very long background of motocross/supercross and defo but my bike through its paces. Although im not dropping off cliffs :) i still feel pretty confident on my mountainbike but as a found at astonhill i didnt feel so confident with the bike lol but i think thats down to the fact people around me was on what looked like motocross bikes without engines lol do people hold training days and if i upgrade forks do they have to be tripple clamps? Because it looks like my bike would sit like a chopperbwith them on lol

Not sure a pitch will take triple clamps. Lyrics would be a good option although other forks are available. What did you bike come with, pikes?

Someone more knowledgeable will post up. Some of the downhillers are away for the weekend and the rest are out riding somewhere :)

For training, jedi off here coaches, his site is http://www.ukbikeskills.co.uk/
Hes coached a lot of people off this forum and is highly recommended.

Yeah definitely don't put triple clamps on a pitch! I wouldn't worry about what bike everyone else is running, just have fun with it. I think if you found yourself going to more downhill type places and gettng to the limits of your pitch then maybe think about getting a full on dh bike and this might happen as you are from a mx background.

At the end of the day, if you are new to the game, your pitch is a perfect all rounder.

Personally i would just upgrade to a downhill bike. or just frame and forks, and move over the rest of your components

Well think about upgrading your contact points as it will make the biggest difference, so tyres, grips, pedals
