Ok so weather is on a downwoods spiral and im planning on doing alot of winter riding. Have 2.35 maxxis high rollers on for now but there shot so looking to upgrade, so needing help.......... Maxxi swamp things? Maxxis wetscreams? 2.35 or 2.5?


Sorry to sound like a full on newby but this is difrent from motocross and some advice would be very helpfull

Damos right - Swamp things are great tyres for almost everything bar hardpack - I run them and minions all year - might try the high roller 2 next year instead of the minions

Imo swamp things are very wet weather specific tyres that work well in the worst weather conditions but as a dry tyre or all round winter dh tyre you can't go wrong with another pair of high rollers.

don't know about anyone else but in the winter i ride 99% of the time on high rollers and use swamp things, either in weather where there has been constant rain battering the trails for a while or as a rain tyre at races.

Also take a look at the specialized clutch - good tyre and cheaper than the maxxis offerings (buy a pair from freeborn)

What size in comparison to Maxxis do those end up coming in at?

The 2.3 ends up like a maxxis 2.5 - i have been happy so far with my 2.3s, 1.5 ply, dual compound and decent tread pattern for about £50 a pair

High Rollers have worn down over the summer and want a bit more grip, especially on front.

I have mud x for winter xc in epping, but only 2.0 wide, will this be any good in surrey hills on front?

or what tyre has more grip than hr, what would them swamp things be like on fireroad / road ups?

Iv done lios of research on swamp things today, and by the sounds of thing for xc there a no go due to high resistance? And are not a "rolling" tyre so ordered em amyway lol

never used myself but was recommended by a few people

Bonty mud x tubeless if you are mostly XC. Super grip in the mud and wet and losing the weight of the inner tube helps with their rolling weight/resistance, mine roll just as quick as my summer tyres and with stans sealant they are bullet proof!
