I think it was still in the big ring when I set off and the speed I hit the rollers I didn't need to pedal so when I landed the theird one I was giving it some and must of been squewiff when landing sending the mech straight into the wheels!
My first thought was for the spokes on the crank bros!!!

Try a mid cage for compromise then. The specs of any prospective Derrailleur should tell you the range it'll cover/ max tooth size for the cassette.

Still don't really understand how it manages to go into the wheel, they're mus be some pretty large flex in those Crank Bros!

Is it only a single ring up front ?. I recall reading a feature about this in Dirt, and it said it all depends on the difference between the rings on your crankset..assuming ou are running a double or triple ring set, if you just have a single ring up front then it doesnt matter, just use a short cage at the rear.

Iver used 32 or 34 up front and then 12-36 at rear with no probs. Ive previoulsy used the old Saint derailuer as its so strong..but now ive moved over to the new style.
