I have a Van R shock on my specialized Pitch
it is 200mm eye to eye.
i have done Tf Tuned spring calc's and based on
Rider weight 85kg - naked so more with kit.
shock stroke 2.25"
wheel travel 6"
Sag at 28% for free ride ish activity.

4 bar linkage with fox shock lists at 524lbs

From this i estimate i need a 550 spring as i most likely weigh in more fully kitted with armour and hydration pack etc.

the current spring lists at 450 x 2.37 but takes up very little of the shock body.
can i fit a longer spring ?
i have included pictures to hopefully better demonstrate this:

Hey man you need a 550 x 2.37. The 2.37 is the stoke length of your shock not the eye to eye measurment so the spring your after will be engineered to allow the shock to use its full stroke no matter how you set up your rebound. It may be slightly longer when it comes but if you put in the wrong the wrong spring youll just loose some of your travel, unless its dialled right out and then you wont be able to controle you rebound rate. Bike looks rad though nice rim colour.....

I would re weigh yourself with all the gear you would normaly wear when riding your bike first... Then cheak the stroke of the shock e.g my shock is 2.25 about 57mm.
Your best bet is to get another 2.37 spring.. Think the next one up is 3.00 but this might not fit your shock as the spring would be to long or longer than your free length which is the measurement from the inside of the bottom where the spring sits to the top of the retainer wound all the way out..
Hope I've helped... I think

The measurement of 57mm sounds about right going by the pic i posted with the tape measure next to it.

I thought i'd ask incase i could pick up a s/h bargain of a spring but it seems it will be a full price from mojo, at least they aren't crazy prices :)

i will weigh myself kitted up too to be sure but i can't see me needing a 600lb spring.

Cheers to both of you :)

You will probably end up with a 550 x 2.35. as long as the second number is larger than the shock stroke that you have 57mm (2.25 inch) it will be fine. If you get a longer spring 550 x 2.80 the hole spring will be longer. it may fit but will have no advantage. i will have a look what i have in the shop tomorrow there is 4 or 5 used springs kicking about.
