I know it's a bit early but just wondering if anyone has any plans yet to do it this year - Saturday 22nd September.

I've got 2 rides already booked for this year (London-Southend & Full South Downs) and this is one that I would like to do aswell.

Anyone done it? Good ride? Bad ride?

Use a 'digital map computer navigation thingy' would be my advice.

Not sure its my cup of tea but a great achievement to do it.

I done it last year and i was fooked by the end of it....the last hill at the end was pure evil.

there was a boring 20mile old railway line stretch half way into the ride but i just listened to my ipod and it was all good.

like Karve said you get a great sence of acheivement at the end espcecily when you at the top the south downs and you can see Brighton at the bottom with a nice 5mile down hill section

I had quite a bad 'off' on the a127. southend arterial road 2 years ago.
I took the higway people to court and won my case. I was able to carry on my ride to southend after the crash.

Just checked it out and sounds like a good ride aswell....man theres to many of these rides, wanna do them all but impossible!

Yeah i think it would be a cracking ride. I've done the london to brighton thing, i need to hit the hills before i get too old.
we'll see who else fancies it. i might start a new post for it.

Useless Fact: I was the first person ever to complete the BHF London to Brighton off road ride

things i would say about the ride....

I agree a GPS is v usefull. The ride is not well signed so getting lost is guaranteed
The Ride itself is not that technically challenging apart from a few pieces over the North Downs
The slog along the railway track (north to south downs link) can be boring unless you can just put the hammer down and get it done
The last climb to get over the South downs is a bugger

I really enjoyed it. It was somethnig different and my day was blessed by sunshine all day.
It is a fantastic training ride. It took me around 6 1/2 hours of solid riding, which gives you a great sense of acheivement once you finish.

Your first pint post ride, sitting on Brighton sea front. is one of the best thngs you will drink

Im doing the road london to brighton, roped a mate into it Want to do the offroad too but my mate aint up for it so would be up for it with a few of you lads/lasses.

I have done it loads of times now. I really recommend it. The route is basic and follows the "Downs Link", which is very well sign posted.

I am always up for it, so if anyone decides a date, I will do my best to make it.

I have ridden from South Woodford to Brighton, which is 100miles or from The University which is 75. Either way its a big old day, but good fun.

I also have GPX if anyone is keen.

I took part in the first one. It was an amazing ride. Yes some bits you just plod along but when your in a group having a laugh who cares.
Only got lost once but thats coz we were going too fast.
Was meant to do it last year but braking both my arms stopped that one.

Me, my misses and 2 other are all going to do it again this year. Looking forward to it.

And as mentioned once you get to the last last killer climb and look down over brighton that is one hell of a feeling of satisfaction.
