Hey guys,

Just got my first DH bike and because I have done Aston before I think I'll start there, I'm aiming to be there earlish, say about 9:30am and get some runs in.

I have good riding skills but I have mainly ridden XC for the majority of my riding life. Just looking for a nice steady intro into DH and would like some tip/hints and guidance of Aston from anyone planning on coming with.

Cheers, Marcos

Hi Marcos.

Won't be at Aston this weekend but I'm going to make the effort to get there sometime soon. Have to ask - is Aston in the wet really a nice steady intro into downhill? :D

I'd stay away from Aston In the wet, it's not very fun at all.

Aston is a bit more tricky when WET . all the roots are so slippery is unbelievable !! and you need to go fast so it doesn t make easier . but makes you better rider . it s not that fun like brad said for me to . but you can give it a go ;0) will be at danbury on sunday i think like 6 of us from here so if you change your mind . what bike we need to look for ? im on matt black specialized big hit , steve (trax ) is on specialized sx , brad on colorfull cannondale ;0) hannibal on carrera banshee and there is more guys . see ya

I love Aston in the wet, just wack some mud tyres with low pressure and go a bit slower and laugh at how silly it can get, and it's great for skills. You'll never be scared of wet roots again after getting your confidence up at wet Aston. Got a ride planned for Sunday and I think we're going there.

Umm, I'm stuck between aston and danbury. Dunbury looks rubbish compared to aston though, not as DHly..

Depends what you're after really, downhill or freeride. If you want a proper downhill run (followed by a 20 minute walk back up!) go Aston. If you want some short 40 second runs, session some jumps and drops and with very little walking then go Danbury.
