Can i put a ten speed chain on a nine speed cassette?
the chain i've got just seems to wide and i'm spending to much time
sorting it out. you know when your going to hit a kicker and clunk the chain catch's another cog
but don't change gear
and foot slip's fluff the jump.
the cassette and chain are new. i've had people look at the mech
and it seems fine.
i've had new hanger as well so thats not bent.

So ten speed chain on a nine speed cassette?
sorry if this is a stupid question.

Are you sure the chain you have already got is 9 speed and not 8? Answer to your question I would think a10 speed chain would work ok.

Cable's are all ok. dirt can cause problems but it clean as a whisle.
I don't know if it is an 8 speed chain but it is new and fitted with the new cassette in the shop.
i just thought rather than buy another 9 speed chain just make sure and buy a ten.
i just wasn't sure if the teeth are spaced diffrent on a 10 from a 9.

Thank all. just have to wait and see now.

If the chain and cassette were fitted in a shop then take it back and get them to sort it out. There shouldnt be any reason for the chain and cassette not to work together if they are both 9 speed.
