I have a dilema, i need a 184mm rear shock. not much in the way of choice.
Two bargain ones i've found Lock out XC for my racing? OR Do it all
I have a Ario as a spare thats on their at the moment, but a decent fox one is non existent? i would like a Over pricedRP23 :(

Any suggestions and or reviews on the Monarch shocks? (i've read the one on the main Bike radar site)

Cheers peeps

Try looking on MTBR.com it's an American based site, but has loads of reviews for pretty much everything written by the owners who ride them just like us.

Strangely enough i joined up yesterday, their a funny lot those yanks, they are also running 165 i2i on my frame not 184??? thats quite a bit different?
Need to get my hands on a 165 to measure it up. that just seems too short to me?

Is the 184mm measurement fully extended? just wondering how much of a 184 shock's stroke isn't used? if you get what i'm thinking?

If a 165 fits without manipulating the rear, will the movement just be compression?

Yes but if the linkgae (which is reletivly small ) is already moved, then it wont sit right, the geometry will be out and it wouldnt get full travel anyway as the linkage would reach its full travel before the shock.

Tony's bringing in his spare 160mm shock for me to try on friday. we shall see how it goes then.

but i still want to find a 184mm to try! Anyone Anyone??

winstanleys is mostly overpriced and has terrible online reviews from the BMX crowd, i found the same shock cheaper for you....

http://www.stif.co.uk/mtb/product/fox-s ... grade/8629 - £130 is that still out of budget ?
