My brother runs chalet over there.. http://www.morzineholidays.com although they were thinking of selling business this year, I intend to try and sort something out if they don't though, with some mates (mostly non-cycling) and perhaps some others if anyones interested, but nearer the time.

Ive travelled there through various methods, plane to Geneva..you canm get flights pretty cheap from Luton, Stansted and City, check how much they charge extra for your bike though..prices are cheaper early on in June as oppsoed to August but Morzine/Les Gets is deff less busy at end of August/beginning Septemember (depending on lift closing times) and you can get on most lifts without major queuing although some of the minor lifts have stopped running.

Ive driven (well..my dad has and we stopped at Morzine enroute to my dads place at Lake Magoirie, Italy.

This year I 'hitched' a lift with a party from up north, they had a bus with seats stripped out one side and all ther bikes squashed in there..was very cheap..£300 for travel and chalet ! :)

There are various other places to stay, most seem to charge about £400 plus per week, most are B&B. Lift pass is 83 Euros for 6 days...you can buy single ones too...although Ive been sneaky and borrowed one from guy my bruv employs...:)

Food n drink is pricey..well eating out is...I tended to buy Croisants for brekkie, a baguette n cheese n ham for lunch n then either out/cook in or BBQ in eve.....Supermarkets are cheap (but often shut lunchtime) and Sherpa bar (popular with riders) does a bring ya own meat BBQ night.

Hi Andy, does your brother offer accomadtion for just the weekend or do you need to book for the whole week, we would only need Thu,Fri,and Sat night probably

Having trouble finding accommodation for just 3 nights, everywhere i've been looking seems only to have bookings for 7 nights.
not sure what to do as we would like to go but cant do a full week away and don't want to miss the tickets tomorrow...

Accomodation seems to be run from weekend to weekend at most places, so those 3 nights will span two weeks, which might be your problem.

Yeah..Ive only ever seen places that accept booking on a weekly basis....most people if they'd travelled that far intend to stay for a least a week. Ive seen tales of people camping there but not sure where. Dirt has done an interest feature on 'off the beaten' track routes and general info on Morzine and the surrounding area.

Not off the top of me head, I recall a recent-ish Dirt had an interview with a guy who was bumming around in a van in Morzine/LG area and mentioned he has stayed in sites..Goolgling throws up lots of results, mostly other forums, for example > http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic ... -campsites

Did this a couple of years go but missed last year due to a mates wedding. Was gutted, and the selfish git got divorced after 11 weeks! Got back on this year though. Last time we avoided the orange graded downhill sections apart from one toward the end as we weren't sure how hard they were. Have ridden the reds into les gets without bother and wondered how they compare? Are we talking large unavoidable drops over 4ft or ridiculous north shore obstacles? Or can you get down them without killing yourself? The ride itself was awesome but felt I could do with some more direct downhill this time.

If you are in morzine the Tibet bar has great sofas and an extremely tidy bar maid.

Riden quite a bit in that area and the only real 'mental' stuff I've seen is the top of the les gets chavaneaux, for example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qk5peZlkxCA

Most of the runs do have chicken runs around them, Im no expert at DH but have found most runs pretty rideable and large drops are either not too big or can be skirted around, in fact the first time I went up Pleney as a complete novice on a real shit bike my first run was the black run and i survived :)

The Red at Les gets is pretty easy, as you prob found out..worst bit is surving the braking bumps !....Black run opposite on Mount Cherry is prob most difficult Ive ridden..no real jumps..but very steep/fast and a stranmghe northsore bit which just confused me !

Im sure there must be others who've ridden all of TDS who could give you better pointers.

Had visions of coming off a blind berm and finding myself taking on the chatel road gap or something! Really enjoyed te last pds but found the long road descents quite monotonous. They were good fun but 5hrs of hopping drainage ditches resulted in severe arm pump. Brake bumps were a bit of a bitch but I guess the bonus of riding that weekend is that the routes are still pretty fresh. looking forward to it, hope all that wanted to enter managed to get a spot.

Dont know how much maintanence goes on between seasons...and whether they attempt to flatten down the bumps, Ive seen them do quite a bit of work (sometimes in summer) on building new jumps and make track changes.

incidently there is a new track (although existing unofficially for a while) on Pleney now that has a smaller road gap jump (about 1/3 height of chatel one) that is far more 'do-able', still scares me though)
