After hitting a tree at danbury and taking nearly three weeks for my shoulder to just about be 100% again I'm thinking of some armour. Anyone got any tips or useful info for when there dressed like a storm trooper?

Armour would help a little for hitting big blunt objects like trees, but nothing can can get rid of all that energy. It is good for stopping gashes and scrapes though; it helps helps sliding down a gravely trail head first on your back, for a forward roll dismount through a bush or more than I can remember other crashes I was glad to be padded up for. I tend to wear a core saver these days and choose when to add elbow pads nice and flexible combo. I have an old 661 pressure suit that I haven't used for a couple of years with some life in it if you want to give it a whirl, PM if interested. I'm moving soon so need a clear out. :-)

I've got the 2011 fox racing titan jacket, love the back protector on it which is the main reason i got it after messing my back up coming of my motorbike. all in one so easy to get on and off rather than having all separate pads and easy to get a jersey over the top if you get the next size up.

has saved me a lot of soreness on many many occasions especially at danbury

remember don't look at the tree you won't hit it!

Does anyone find them hot and what about in the summer? My backs not 100% either after a motorbike crash when I was 16.

I wear this when I'm riding tricky stuff:

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=72484

It protects against the majority of bumps, knocks, and grazes, but if you have a dodgy back then you might want something with a proper back protector.

Having said that I don't put all that much faith in the big robocop-style body armour suits... They're not going protect against breaking a collar bone or similar, which is what I'm most worried about!

I have elbow/arm pads and may get a back protector soon, i tried one of those pressure suits but couldnt see me wearing it in the summer so sent it back, theres always going to be an element of risk and i think the best thing to spend the money on is decent health insurance that covers broken bones

I do find my suit hot in the summer so then i just wear it on its own with no jersey but that is only the hottest of days.
the rest of the time i have a spada cooling base layer and a jersey on.

I like the look of those kinda tops, ...you can also get one with just back protector or backpacks with built in protector....still a pressure suit my hold my belly in for a while.
