Right, im looking at buying a second set of wheels for my TREK EX8 and have found a set which sound good to me, but want your opinions really... They're Crossmax rims built on 32H Hope Pro2's. Good buy for Mildly aggressive XC, or is there a better option for me out there???

Also, im obviously going to have to put tyres on. These will be my off-road / all rounder rims, so was looking at either MAXXIS Advantage Kevlar 2.1's... or Schwable Nobby Nics. Opinions... ;)
My current wheels are fitted with Specialised Crossroads Armadilos, but are very bias towards tarmac / light offroad use.

Anyway, cheers for looking, and hope to hear to get some good advice / feedback :high5:

Tyres seem to be a very personal choice, to me as long as they're black round and knobbly that'll do ! but to some they stick their reputation on them !

I was extremely lucky to be given a pair of Maxxis HighRollers and to be honest i dont want anything else, they helped my riding a lot at Danbury

Yeah, thats what i thought.... But always worth the ask.....

As for high rollers, if i remember right, they have virtually the same tread pattern and compound as the old Mitchelin Comp22's... Which if thats the case, i make you dead right. Its what i used to use in both trail and competition riding, and always swore by them!

Highrollers are good but a bit heavy for xc'ing

Yep, which is also why my bike hasn't got a pair of comp22s on it..... I am looking at staying as light as possible really.

What model of Crossmax rim, because the SX model is super tough for what its designed for, so you can se for a whole lot more than just XC

My bad..... Theyre actually Hope Pro 2 EVO hubs on Mavic XC717's - for £289.95 with free del. Is that a good price, and good build for XC???

That's a reasonable price for that wheelset built up, and should do you for some aggressive cross country

That is a good price, when i built my set up they were expensive rims so i went for the old EN515's as they 'used' to be the best LOL
