May be in the wrong area of the forum, but didn't think this classes as an actual ride ;)

Anyway..... Does any one know of any amateur XC races I can enter? Really fancy doing so.Epping a bit organised, but unsure of what's about.

Cheers for any help ;)

MSG as mentioned above, Beastway, local racing at Redbridge Cycling Centre (wednesday nights, the series runs from may-july, 1hr races), Mainly winter races at thetford but the best Ive done in the south east are the gorricks over in Swinley or on the army land around Farnborough. They run a winter series and a spring series and one off enduros like the gorrick 100 and 12:12.

http://www.beastway.com/

You dont need a racing license to enter any of these.

Any questions just ask...

MSG starts on 1st April in Tunstall (too far for me to travel too) but next one on 29th April is at Hylands House... good race series for fun and the thrill of racing... (then get past by the 15 year old girl on her race bike... she is polite though say "excuse me" in a little squeaky voice :lolno: :lolno: :lolno: :lolno: )

Yea the racing I as you take it. The serious ones do the 2hr racing, the 1 hr one is more fun... The starts are manic as all try for a position. Soon pick em off one by one as the laps progress... :-)

I'm no racer either but do it for the fun and thrill... The Codham park course in Braintree is a particular favourite good long course with some interesting features in it... I will say it is intense for the hour one as your not really stopping just keep on going... I would suggest doing some longer rides beforehand so at least your used to the distances for stamina, normally about a 3 mile a lap and do between 4 to 6 laps...you can of course stop anytime you want to.

Someone from on the forum here I'm sure will be doing some of the races so you won't be a newb for long... See em at the start then the finish...
:-)

Once I get a bit of fitness back I can sneak 60 miles in, commuting to work three days a week plus a night ride and a weekend blast.
I should be on the podium :) just need to lose the 4st I've gained. That should make riding easier

Owwww is be up for the hylands and braintree races.... I do 1 hour continuous rides 3 times a week, so should be ok. I'm in it for fun anyway. :)

Can't do the Olympics And, don't like the colour of the t shirts :( LOL.

Fun :? i dont remember it being fun?
1hr is fast a furious but 2hr is more relaxed in the fact you dont need to sprint at the start. but the Lycra boys take the fun out of actual riding.

Cant do the first one as not had enough saddle time, 2nd one i'm on a Porsche day, but may join you at Braintree as its a fun course. you can keep thetford.
Intrigued about the new Bury course.

LOL yep, some people take it Waaaaaaaaaaaaay to seriously!
You want to get in front of the obvious roadies when racing at anywhere technical, they break right when your thinking i can blast that, Danbury was worst for this! Braintree a litttle too. But there nowhwere to be seen at thetford as its bumpy and they dont know how to cope.
