Hi. The name's Rob. Originally an Aveley boy but now living in Stanford. Been lurking for a while. Should be getting out on my bike a bit more when my boy finishes his rugby season. Looking to get fitter but can't be arsed to ride on the road. So boring! Give me trails any day! Hope to meet up with some of you guys soon!

Hello Nik. I've had a Specialized P1 AM for about 4 years. A few mates have upgraded bikes in the last few months, Trek Fuel EX8, etc. I've just ordered a Trek Rumblefish Elite 29er which is due in mid-April. I went to a 29er demo day last month at Rutland Cycles and really liked what i rode, so took the plunge.

I'm a Kenningtons boy originally. Left Aveley Comp in 1986 making me 42 ( !!!!! ) Would i know ya? I have a brother, Mick, who left in 1987 and a sis, Deborah who left in 1990.

Hi Rob welcome to the forum, I was a keningtons boy for a while, lived in Nethan drive back in the 80s where the recession lost my house lol. Friends of mine were doorman Terry Clifford, Alan Darcy and my old martial art mate Chris Martin. Knew most faces from there as I worked the circus tavern. See you on a ride soon maybe.

Hi Ninja.

Then you'll know Pete Bullen, Pete Wilton and Andy Foulger. All my uncles. Well, Pete Bullen passed away a few years ago and Andy moved to Peterborough with my aunt and cousins but they split up a few years ago.

Will be checking the forum for rides i can get to ASAP. Will see you on one of them.

Quite a few names I know, but I'm "only" 36, LOL..... But, my mate who I ride with is also an aveley lad, and is 42 - Jon Britton.

The thing I'm famous for is most people from Aveley know my mum, take that a few ways, LOL... She's the nurse in the medical centre.

Hi Rob, welcome! I joined this forum a short while ago and have already been out on some excellent trail rides over Thorndon - go for it the sooner the better!

Re 29ers, agree they are def worth having a go to see how you find them - I've tried a few but not taken the plunge yet - you guys should come and try a 29er at Warley - Ghost Bikes Demo on Sunday 22nd April. I've got someone coming from Ghost bikes with some full sus xc (120 and 150 travel) and an Ghost HTX 9000 29er to try out (http://www.ghost-bikes.com/bikes-2012/b ... inum-9000/)

Check out the post in the events forum it shows the bikes that will be there:

Hi Clay. Grove Road leads to Stanford rugby/cricket pitches, yeah? I'm in Abbotts Drive. I'd love to get out in the week but I'm away some nights, so it's mainly weekends for me. I'll def meet up one Sunday morning at Thorndon for a ride with some of the regulars though. Cheers Clay!

Hi Anta. I went to a 29er demo day at Rutland Cycles Fineshade last month and tried some there. I'm a bit of a fat boy so anything to make it easier, I like! Had a blast around their trails and went for the Rumblefish Elite. Nearly 5 inches of travel front and back was just the ticket. Also got 10% off so am well chuffed!! Might still see me up there on 22nd though!

Hi Gudge, I've had a few falls already but nothing serious. I've had a bad shoulder for a few months but that wasn't bike related. I can't be going fast enough to do any injury!! Yes, see you on a ride!

Hi Festa. I grew up with 'Little Terry' on Kenningtons. Was in the same year. Know his brother Lawrence as well. Not seen Tel for years now but heard he's a grandad!
