Hey all,

I borrowed a bike stand when i started building my bike and i really should have given it back by now so i need to buy my own, the one i borrowed was ok a bit like this but with a ratchet strap to secure the frame rather than a clamp,



what do other people recommend, would like to keep the cost down as much as possible really, what works and what doesnt

the one pictured is £60 so thats what i'm looking at now until someone suggests something better (value or useage)

I got mine from LIDL last summer for £30

Worth keeping your eye on ALDI and LIDL for the next lot of stuff they do as LIDL have recently had Bike clothing stuff, may likely have maintainance stuff soon?

Armchair MBR

I currently have mine hung up by the seat off a rafter in the shed using a drain pipe loop.

i keep meaning to set up a proper clamp arm so it doesn't swing about

i just spotted an L bracket one which might enable me to ceiling mount it.

I likethe wall mount ones, i could bolt one in my garage but always wondered how you get to the other side of the bike ?? and if your bars are wide will the bike fit without it bashing into the wall, need to see one mounted to get a better feel for it i think ?

The mounts are only 330mm long so you may struggle with wall mounting but you could always bolster it off the wall a bit using a chunk of wood.

as for getting to the other side surely you just take it off turn it round and put it back ?
it's rare you need to do a job that requires access both sides

Is your axle not pressed into the drive side ?

Yeah but you have to remove both crank arms and i'd be bollocked if i had to take it off the mount to turn it round because it was too close to the wall ?

also changing a pair of peddles cant be doing with doing one and taking it down only to put it up to do the other ??

but then i am lazy when it comes to stuff like this ! i could mount one on the pier in the garage wall so it just out a fair bit i guess, or get a floor mount, still interested to see one in action though !
