Just bought a cheap hardtail frame for XC, time to find pretty much every component that makes a bike a bike :D

This month I've nearly bankrupted myself buying a downhill setup, so I'm expecting to have to wait to find bits at bargain prices as this build is going to be a long-term project!

I'm open to pretty much anything, I'd prefer to go for SRAM shifters and mechs (3x9) as I know how they work, but I'd be more than happy to go for alternatives if offered. Open to anything on the brakes, I was thinking something along the lines of shimano SLX or deore for the cranks & BB (68mm)

So if you've got a pile of bits in the garage/shed/lounge/bedroom and SWMBO is kicking up a fuss, have a rummage and see if we can help each other out :D . (Then spend the cash on a cheap bunch of flowers and some even more expensive bits  ). Cheers,

Chris

Feel free to pop round and have a look through the shed for bits and pieces. There is plenty in there including wheels, bars, stems etc I would be willing to part with for minimal beer tokens!

Gladdice, do you happen to have a stem 50 - 80 mm? Still after some forks too. Building up the same frame as Chris. Are you in Colchester?

Colchester yes, I reckon I have a couple of stems in there somewhere. Forks wise I may well have some 2007 Fox36 floats up for grabs but they may be too much travel for the on-one frames

Ah cool. I'm over in Braintree. Yeah think the floats will be too much, 150mm max really on these frames..

Right, this is on hold for the time being then, I'll see what treats lie in Joel's shed next week, and work out what I still need after that

You can use a spacer to reduce the floats to 140mm but no probs.

Still interested then! And the stems. Do you have any pics or would it be best to visit some time?

Just to note i may well have one set of floats and one set of talas up for sale (both fox 36 2007 and in great condition).

One for each of you at a very reasonable price would mean I can buy a single set of something for my hardtail.

Everybody wins!

Got your PM Joel, I'll definitely take the Talas forks and quite probably a few other bits, tried to PM you a fair few times, but every time the message just appears in the outbox and not the sent items bit. Hopefully it'll sort itself out soon!
