Anyone ever take apart an oldish 2005-2007 Marzocchi 888 (and perhaps 66) fork ?

Ive got a small plastic 'valve' (Part 33) on the pic.

I cant work out where it goes, its too small to fit over the actual rebound rod and doesnt appear to fit anywhere.

I begining the think I was sent the wrong part (although it does resemble the one in the picture).

Save yourself a lot of agro and send the lot to windwave.
i tried to rebuild a mates 66's and they just leaked after

I agree with nwmlarge. Ive done mine once and it was ok but last time i just sent them to TF and theve never felt better. Still way the same as two scaff poles though.

not sure how relivent they are, but you maybe able to work out where it goes from someone elses internals?

Don't really want to fork out more money for a job I should really be able to do myself (in no hurry given the state of the weather !).

Anyway sussed it out now, found some cut-open internal diagrams (in Russian !) but I can see where bits go, appears part sent to me is clearly wrong.

get used to that where windwave are concerned.
when i was building my mates back up they sent me 4 parts 2 fitted 2 were for different forks.
i was working from their diagrams!

Parts wernt from Windwave.

But now ive bought diff parts from diff online stores and so far had one wrong foot nut and now (diff store) wrong valve washer.

Still, Im reasonably happy that at least parts are available and not silly prices.

Aha..so maybe its them who label parts wrong that then go onto stores.

Oh to add I also bought an internal rebound rod from pinkbike, turns out it was the compression one..ha..oh well, the model I had didnt have compression so thats useful, only £10 too. Although the money ive spent now I could of just sent it to Windwave but they charge a lot for new rods...but I may be tempted by the service with new bushings if I still have problems.

Well by the looks of it in 3 weeks it will still be pissing down.

Ive put it together ok so far but the missing plastic valve obviously affected the rebound because when you compressed the fork and uncompressed it slightly, i,.e a small wheelie or drop off the fork would straighten out with a nice klunk sound

Im determined to sort it, I prob would of maybe bought another (2nd hand) one by now but as this one had been freshly sprayed, laquered, etc its in great condition.

Just got a nice bling direct mount clamp for it from ebay, will match my gold Saint bits nicely

Have you tried attaching 33 to 48 before inserting the lot through 47&34 ?

EErr.. 33 wont fit anywhere which is the problem, Its far to small, I believe I know how it goes know (when I get correct size!), 33 (valve) should fit inside 34 (ferrule) and this in turn will be held in place by the spring (44) and washer (43).

Ive ordered the valve (33) from a couple of other places (was only £2) so hopefully the right part will arrive from one.

So happy to say this is sorted now !

Part I needed is the dark blue valve as the pic shows (in Russian !), its on order from 3 stores but got bored waiting so bought washer I needed from B&Q...

Its all put together now with various bits Ive bought over the last month, including Risse Clamp Kit as here > http://www.risseracing.com/product_acce ... .shtml#888 (not bad £46 from Ebay) and gold direct mount stem, softer springs and Enduro seals.

All topped up with WT20 oil, feels great now, smooth and noticebally feels better over small bumps, roots.

Ive now got lots of 888 pre-2007 spares and diagrams/pix if anyone else needs help with this fork !
