Ok.... Its kind of been brought to my attention that a lot of the new riders, or low skilled riders out there are reluctant to join the usual Thorndon, etc, weekend jaunts due to feeling like they cant keep up, or are holding the groups back. So, heres my plan....

BEGINNERS DAYS.

I'll personally take any body who wants to come, out on the Thorndon trails (initially) and let the group ride in sections where they can go at THEIR own pace with no pressure, and learn the skills, etc, their own way, with some guidance if need be, so they eventually can get the confidence and skill to join the other groups + learn the off track trails around Thorndon, etc.

The only thing we need to do now is get a show of hands for people who are interested, and a date to kick our first ride off!!!!

As Nick has suggested. Some of the newer members joining the site might like a taster and gentle intro to MTB'ing.

So as interest is high and people are always eager to get out as soon as possible. I would like to suggest the following.

AN Introduction riding session at Hylands House Park Chelmsford Sunday 13th @9:00I'll gladly show you around and help guide you along meeting location and parkup is here >>>> (Carpark of A414

It has ample parking, good facilities. A nice wooded section to build up handling the bike through tight twisting trees, and a good skills section along by the golf course to practice balance and skill. All can be looped together to produce a nice ride route.. (aka the MSG route recently used) so end up doing a final lap of about 3.5 miles.

We could also easily do a bike prep area in the car park before hand also. Some of the more skilled mechanically minded riders could pass on their tips and set-up routines to all. (volunteers needed)

Then the following weekend put these newer skills into riding over at Thorndon, and then maybe look at using Epping as a location to show new riders around, etc etc... Idea is to get used to riding on different conditions and as group.

Also for building stamina and distance, we could use the Flitch Way, no technical stuff their but a good looooooooong route to build up stamina and distance training nice long drawn out hills...

So with that any Takers, I'll add names to this first topic so they are in one place..

Can't do this weekend but would be up for next weekend.

Wouldn't say I'm a really a beginner, but would be nice to meet some new people. I've only been out once with guys from this forum and just moved down here.

Also, can give lifts to anyone near Harrow.

Time wise probably looking between 2 to 3 hours...

Just an easy pace and intro to sections and mostly ride time on the bike...

I live at Rayne, so if you want to ride the Flitch with some company then just let me know. Chatman often rides this too just to get some miles in. Probably passed me pedalling like a loon on the way too and from work in Braintree.

I'm in Dunmow sire, truth be told I don't actually know anyone around here. Just keep heeding out on solo missions :)
Have seen a few folk hacking about & it's very possible we've already done the old polite head nod on't flitch way.
If you're around, I'll come for a roll

Hiya

Please add my brother Simon, also for some reason my iPad won't open the car park link, is it the one off 3 mile hill by the gate, the one by the house/courtyard, or off the A414 on the way to Ongar (in which case thers still 2) :?

Thanks

Stephen

It's the carpark off the A414. Head up the entrance road and then take first exit right into the carpark. Leeds into where the wooden fort kids play area is. Park up here.

I'll be in a blue Rav4 and Vw is in a lime green Seat...
