Hello all...has anybody got or had these tyres??...Maxxis Advantage or the maxxis larsen...pros or cons...thanks..Z

I run Advantages - Light weight single plys (folding)....

Pro - very light and got good traction in all but seriously muddy conditions, but clear mud pretty good.
Con - puncture easy due to thin ply, but if you run tubeless or with slimes, should be ok (mine are tubeless, and now fault free)

They do come as dual ply non-folding which i'd imagine are more puncture resistant....

I like my Maxxis tyres, easy set up, fairly light and fast rolling.

Also worth looking at Xkings from continental.

Maxxis are good, but I have changed to Schwable tyres They are lighter and feel much more responsive and grippy.

Had the advantage in 2.1 guise on my Marin.. good tyre in the mud and dryer trails... nice and light weight.. as mentioned above if riding in thorny areas they are prone to punctures.. Ran mine with slime tubes that seemed to prolong their life (I've not converted to tubeless yet, prefer changing tyres when I want) :-)

what is a good alternative to high rollers?

i noticed my supertacky's are starting to look worn so replacement's will be sought soon

I run the 62a compound 2.1 Advantages during the winter months and they proved an excellent all-rounder, didn't have any puncture issues myself.

Nobby Nic's are a good option as I have found them quite fast rolling and provide reliable grip even in an inch of slop.

I would say though for a more DH based all rounder Muddy Mary's are the ones I think id choose!

Just go for the EVO option, the snakeskin are more puncture proof if that appeals but generally i find the EVO the best to go for.

Wait till you look at Racing Ralph's there are soooooo many different types!

Not the cheapest compared to a HR but i will keep an eye out for a bargain.

Planet X is usually good for price on the Nics / Ralphs, etc..

Nics are a good all round tyre but shallower treads than Muddy Mary........If your using the Pitch as an all weather DH rig i would go Mary.
