Hi have a old set of wheels that i want to use as a spear/heavy duty/winter uses. It got a 8 speed cassette on it at the moment but my current bike is 9 speed, would a 9 speed cassette fit straight on or would i need a new hub that persific for 9 speed for it to work?

Depends on the Freehub. Most of the Shimano ones will take 8 and 9 speed cassettes with no need for spacers or anything.

^^ what he said... as long as the fitment (i.e the way ity fits onto the freehub) is the same it'll fit.

You'll need a different chain to go with the new cassette

The chain/derailer/shifter are all 9 speed on the new bike, the old wheel was off a 8 speed

Why not just buy the tools (socket and chain wrench) to remove thecassette, which you'll need anyway to get the 8 speed off., and just change the 9 speed cassette onto the wheel you're going to use???
Would also save adverse wear on the chain as it would be running on differently worn cassettes.
