Harrogate.

was up there for a week working nights with a couple of other guys, so we decided to make the best use of our time spending the days out riding.

The first day saw us go to Gisburn Forest, a really good trail, about 11 miles long, some long climbs and some great descents, in particular 'hully gully' and also a few north shore styled sections though they weren't too difficult. the views were fantastic as well. This is the only picture I took unfortunately from the whole week, and I will definitely be investing in a go pro!

Day 2 we took a trip to Stainburn Forest, home the most technical black route in the country, and it didn't disappoint, this made Aston Hill look as smooth as Chicksands! Needless to say I had a massive off being far too cocky, and am going back to hospital tomorrow for more xrays on my knee. The red route however provided hours of fun as its really quick, quite technical, and the more you session it you can improve your line and get quicker and quicker. Highly recommend you visit there if you get the chance and are into dh.

Day 3 we went back to Gisburn, and did 'the 8' trail again. followed by Lee Quarry on day 4, this was great fun, really flowy I thought, and great for progression for riders learning the ropes. the loop isn't huge but if you link it up with Cragg quarry too to make it a bit longer, 4k extra I think?

Finally on our way home on day 5, we took a trip to Cannock Chase. we followed 'the dog' and split to do the 'monkey trail' and joined back up completing the dog. I love Cannock, one of the best places I've ridden, a bit like a smaller version of Coed-Y-Brenin. The loop consist of very steep climbs with lots of switchbacks, but are very rewarding when you've reached the top, and made all the more sweeter by some great descents. The final two on the monkey being my favourites.

Needless to say I will be going back to all these places at some point for another go, hmmmmm EHMTB roadtrip.....

Hope that wasn't too much of a bore to read but just thought Id share

Stu
