Yep I know you can get to the essexhertsmtb forum via a browser on 3g phones but its fiddly and a pain the ass.... for me anyway.

So ive installed code to allow the...

and tapatalk (iPhone, ipod touch, Android, BlackBerry (free) and Nokia (free) http://www.tapatalk.com/


...applications to work - using the apps rather than the browser is way quicker and you use less data as the template of the site isnt pulled down. Im using touchbb free and its pretty handy as I can baby bounce with one arm and organise a ride with the other!

If anyone wants to use another application let me know and i will mod the forum accordingly.

(edit as mentioned by trax) make sure you use http://www.essexhertsmtb.co.uk/php/forum/ as the forum URL

Any other any thoughts/idea for the site let me know and ill see what I can do. Im always up for a bit of web tinkering.

It sounds like a great idea, I was wondering why it started to recognise I was using a iPhone

I find the site fine to use onthe iPhone (im on it now) but if the app uses less data then I shall download

The only thing I can think of to improve, is to be able to upload pictures from my pictures for forum use, rather than having to upload the pictures onto the web to get the pic URL ( if that makes sense )

Ohh and maybe being able to have a sort of profile page for each member, a tad like pinkbike. But that could be jumping the gun abit

Put in the forum URL, not just the main site page otherwise it doesn't work. And don't download Touch BB's by mistake like I did, it's shit!!

Jon - will www.forumrunner.net work? Getting fed up with Touch BB, keeps nagging me to buy it, but you can't edit posts or quote in a reply so not going to do that. Not sure about Tapatalk, it gets mixed reviews.

I use tapatalk, ( I'm using it now) and I think it is great.
What are you using, I use a iPhone and it seems quick and the layout is easy to use

tapatalk ratings are pretty good - its deffo my choice of app after using it and Touch BB for a while - where does Touch BB ask you to upgrade for the paid for app.. Is it when you hit a browser or when you are in the app?

if its naggy and annoying ill deffo swap it out for forumrunner, but i don't want to run more than 2 at a time or the codebase of the forum becomes unwieldy.

No worries, everyone has convinced me to get Tapatalk.

Touch BB started complaining when I got to 39 days (may have been less). When you launch the app it pauses then comes up asking you to consider buying it. It also does this every time you switch to it if you've left it in the background. It's also randomly displays replies in the wrong order. My last post in the Cwm Carn thread appeared with posts from a week ago.

Hmm thats not great. ill scrub it and see what forumrunners like.
