Hi all,

I recently ordered a pair Continental Mountain King tires and both tires have a white, almost like talcum powder coating on them. I have tried to clean it off as its really noticeable but to no avail so I suspect it maybe something to do with the manufacturing process.

The actual 'integrity' of the tires seems to be fine, but it's just a bit annoying as I'm building a new bike and the tires look well ropey!.

Is this normal?

Basically the answer is "Yes" this is normal.

Conti have it worse than most I believe but from what i understand they will coat it in the powder so the tyres do not stick when being packaged.

It will wear off after your first ride.

:D Or I can use the excuse that as it should all come off after the first ride, I therefore need to buy ALL the components now in order to ride it

I'm still trying to work out what the 'DJ' stand for in DJ HT - dinner jacket perhaps :D

That's a serious collection of bikes.
