Hi all,

I recently ordered a pair Continental Mountain King tires and both tires have a white, almost like talcum powder coating on them. I have tried to clean it off as its really noticeable but to no avail so I suspect it maybe something to do with the manufacturing process.

The actual 'integrity' of the tires seems to be fine, but it's just a bit annoying as I'm building a new bike and the tires look well ropey!.

Is this normal?

Basically the answer is "Yes" this is normal.

Conti have it worse than most I believe but from what i understand they will coat it in the powder so the tyres do not stick when being packaged.

It will wear off after your first ride.

You could always use back to black car tyre shine but may make them a bit slippy lol.

Or I can use the excuse that as it should all come off after the first ride, I therefore need to buy ALL the components now in order to ride it :mrgreen:

Yes............You can never have enough bikes, you need at least 10......

Beach cruiser!? No beaches near here! Also a SS for those inclined to like a stuggle and a bike for commuting.
