At the moment i use 661 comp knee and shin guards, while these are perfect for 99% i found them a tad warm riding in our summer last week  When summer does return next year i want to get a set of just knee pads for xc use, any recommendations? budget of up to £50ish

The 661 Kyle Straights are pretty good. I wear mine for pretty much anything including xc/trail. It's got to be really hot before you notice them.

Think the Kyle Straits have been replaced by the Rage.

I'm same, got the knee/shin for our trip to Wales but will be getting some Rage knee this month for summer riding.

I use 661 veggie knee pads and don't notice them getting too hot when I'm riding, although they're a bit sweaty when I take them off! They're quite slim too so they fit under baggies fine. Got mine used off flea bay for a tenner, bargain! You need to make sure you get the right size though, mine are a large, and I can only just get the straps done up so they sometimes ping undone and end up round my ankles lol.

agreed. i got some dirt cheap of an Ebay store about 6 weeks ago (can't really remember, it was when we went to UKBS ? ) they have been great in torrential rain and bright sunshine and you don't even know you're wearing them!

I have been using the nukeproof knee and shin and they are very very comfortable and light weight while still maintaining hard shell protection.
£50
even better they are on sale!

Hi,

Any advice about sizing? I read that they run larger than on chart. It seems like L for me but now I am wondering M.

I am 187cm (6''2') and rather slim guy 88 Kg.

Any pointers?

I believe there are two new 661 ranges now..Riot and Rage, Riot's being a bit thinner and Rage's being thicker and a hard shell inside.

Just bought myself Riot Elbow and Rage Knee, they both have the same new look though so match quite well.

Also got some 661 Veggie Hat & Huntingdon edition, which look a lot better than the original Veggies and are quite thin but fit under trousers well.

I bought L knee, Ive quite biggish legs/calves but skinnier arms so M Elbows.

None seem that cool though.

Thanks man. I thought about M elbows but since I am kinda slim guy (normal in my opinion. Not slim-thin) I will get M knees too.

Measure around your knee - actually you measure around the top and bottom, its a little confusing, there is a size chart on their website

If you buy em from CRC you can keep the tags on, try em on and then use their return service to change sizes if needs be.

I have been using the 661 Evo knee pads for the past 2 years and have been really impressed with them! They don't seem to wear well but are a nice comfortable pad and don't seem to get too hot in them either!!

Same with elbows? Thanks for that.

According to their chart I should have L in both however I read on internet in few places that sizing is way out so I decided to go for M.
