What type ?. We assume not a full face, there are now quite a few good looking trail style helmets that cover more of the back of your head and avoid the alien/mushroom head look. Ive just bought a 661 Recon (using a £15 off voucher for the new Evans store in Spittalfields Market), very pleased with this, (had a Fox Flux before).

Saw this BBB Varollo in IMB magg but appears not that common to get hold of > http://www.imbikemag.com/issue17/?page=111

I got a cool looking full face from Halfords but that was only because it looked cool but as a complete newbie I'm thinking its a bit over the top. I agree with Andy about the Alien head that's what made me go for a full face.
Is a full face over the top for a newbie?
Quicksilver, get a full face so I don't feel so silly, lol.

Full face ??? i think is a little OTT for a newbie

I have been looking at the Kali Protectives Chakra Plus & MET Terra

What do you all think ? both look good value for money

I nearly got the Chakra plus, it got good reviews on bikeradar, but I eventually went for the urge enduromatic which was reduced on CRC (£45). Nice and comfy and I like the way it looks. I'll leave it for others to decide wether I look like a mushroom head in it ;)

Bit OTT for making a trip to Sainsburys perhaps....but not out of place at Danbury, Aston, Alps or any other DH type place.
