Hi my chain keeps slipping on the rear gears, when you peddle hard , cant see anything obvious, any ideas? cheers john,

It's worn. You should replace the cassette, chain and preferably the chain rings if needed. It usually gets worse when you buy a new chain and pedal hard Unless of course you mean the gears aren't changing properly and doesn't go into gear.

Only had the bike about 4 months surely cant wear that quick can it ?

Not unless you've put a hell of a lot of off road miles in through the mud and rain we've had. Could be misadjustment of the gears. Does it happen in certain gears or all gears? If you have a chain wear checker use it to see if the chain is worn. Also the teeth on your chainset and cassette will look like shark fins, curved and pointy if worn.

Happens in all the gears have been riding in the wet n mud mostly all off road bedgebury and danbury , probably has not helped that i havnt lubed the chain ,

Oh dear. No lube + no TLC = knackered chain. Maybe the links are seizing. Clean and lube and show it some love and it may repay you with sweet shifting. If not get a new one, plenty of chains in the sea lol.

Chain off the bike, soak in white spirit or washing up liquid.
rinse
scrub
rinse
scrub
dry it
lube it!

Will get a new chain and some lube i think , see if it cures it , cheers

I picked up a chain cleaner for £10 its cheap and nasty and works like a charm got some chain lube from Halfords for cheap too, Worth doing but i'm not religious about it !

My dad bought me round a similar cheapo chain cleaner but first I managed to spill most of the fluid on the floor and it couldnt be attached upside down, you need the bike upright, and it got on my nerves and soon got smashed up..carried on cleaning it witha n old rag.

Hi one of the links is seized solid so going to replace the chain and putting a cheeky e thirteen chain guide on too ,(shh dont tell the missus)
i will definately keep the new one lubed up from now on , cheers
