Is there much difference specialized stump jumper Vs Specialized Pitch.

I looked at the Pitch 2010

the first 5-6 over about 4-5years then a 12 year gap and the next 5 over the last 2-3 years

the stump jumper was a late 90's hardtail so nothing like each other i'm afraid, it did have a cool pearl to green fade paint job though

the Pitch is an awesome bike for doing everything.

i have aimed mine much more towards freeride and it is still great for a 2-3hour xc jaunt probably longer.

if you see me over danbury say hello and have a go, you don't have to bomb on it to get the best from it but it will take some big hits if you want it to

Yeah, I have a Pitch 2011, my first bike and i does everything. Been to The bike park, dirt jumps, Downhills, Trail centers... Just about everything! Great bike.

I think I need to comprimise, There are a few relatively good bikes here and there but most are single speed, that come within my budget with a little spare, I have been trying to research how much it costs to buy all the kit to set up a 1x9 gearing system but I really am not quite sure what I need for the full setup,

How much roughly would it cost to get all the kit together to make one of these bikes geared with good quality parts?
I can probably survive on a SS for a while as long as i Can afford all the parts to change it over.

I spent about £500 speccing my bike, nearly all Saint stuff, all new, except cranks which were 2nd hand from ebay, had em reprayed and new decals from slik graphics.

Setting up a basic 1x9 setup can be done pretty cheap, I got a 12-36 cassette for about £25-£30, giving me the ratio of gears that I need, the crank was cheapish 2nd hand (£30), new blackspire 32 tooth chaimring (was £30ish but I originally had 2nd one for cheap as chips).

All topped off with an MRP chain device (2nd hand but new from pinkbike), although you can get far cheaper devices but some tend to be noisy.

Love the Saint stuff for being reliable and tough (I wrecked a cheap derailuer in Morzine a few years back with a simple crash), maybe the older stuff will be cheaper now the 2012 range (and Zee range) is out now/soon.

You can buy a complete groupset (gears complete + brakes for reasonable money.... I went with this...

Its not top of the range but its decent enough and when/if components break i'll upgrade them one at a time for better parts (saint / xt - etc)

EDIT: check one of the photos, its a stolen bike! I text the owner immediatly, turns out, he was already aware and its already sorted, the person advertising had bought it from the thief not knowing, and its being returned to its original owner tonite.

I did something similar on FB but didnt help, although my bike that got nicked was pretty naff.
