Clear pee is bad too much.. should be pail straw colour...

I normally drink easily 1.5 litres of water on a good 15-20 mile ride easily, I take a 750ml water bottle if doing further... and re-fill if possible on the ride.. shops etc..

Some really good advice in this thread :clap:
Is been typed already but water, fruit, flapjacks and something nice (mini mars bars) are all you need.
You need to drink a lot more than you are.
Eat a banana before you ride as you taking the bike out of the car and keep eating reguarly whilst riding.

Energy bars and drinks are a waste of money, its just marketing.

Excuse my ignorance of diabetes but can you eat jelly babies? Really good for when you hit the wall.

I wouldn't say energy products are a waste of money really, not when you can get a box of the for tenner (bike shop prices are a rip off). Used properly they can help, the problem I find is that there are only a few nice flavours! Isotonic drinks are also good at stopping cramps, some people are more prone to these than others. On a normal ride I might at a banana and just drink water witha a bacon stop somewhere around half way.
What type of diabetes do you have Jon if you don't mind me asking? I've read of a drink for sale in America that is specifically formulate for diabetics and contains no caffeine.

Young age and stupidity works here oh and some fruit juice not from concentrate with a little salt mixed in.

Oh and di I mention stupidity and young age, plus a little peer pressure thrown in for good measure.

Lol I can do stupid .I often do, but not with my health, that's because i'm old. Had type 1 diabetes for 37yrs with no issues.

Jelly babies work because they have a high glucose content, for me a jelly baby is truly a treat I don't have very often lol!
Bananas are full of potassium and slow release carbs which is why they're good before a ride.

Ironically I had a curry and a large glass of squash before I set out last night, only riding a mile but up church hill in Benfleet and I managed to ride all the way up, haven't done that since I had a bmx in the 80's ! It's a big bloody hill

Could be worth talking to other diabetics sportmen/women and see what they do. It's got to be a forum on the internet that address this. As you said, you need to be careful not to consume too much sugar. I don't know much about diabetics needs (I guess depends on the type of diabetes you have got, type 1 or 2) but surely you are not the only one.

The reason i asked initially is that i have found a drink that supposedly ticks all the boxes for refreshing and replenishing and diabetes friendly and just wondered if anyone may have used them or something like them, i dont buy into sales pitch's and marketing bullshit but i will buy into my health to a degree, i manage my blood sugars pretty goood, sometimes i get it wrong but hey ho thats life with a knackered pancreas, a non-dibetics needs are a bit different and all people are different so all of the above suggestions will work to some degree for most people and thats great, i just need to maintain a good level of stamina and that means energy which means glucose in my case, but not too much or too little, its tricky stuff !
