Is about time I got myself to a decent place and start riding properly so after some advice.

Ive got a Saracen X-ile (about 10 years old now) which has been concerted to single speed so pretty much wanting to have a go at things like the 4X or slalom tracks.

Is there anywhere people would suggest to go as hoping to get out on sunday.
Was thinking Chicksands or PORC?

Chicksands is a good place to go. lot of progressive stuff to ride

Never been to PORC but been chicksands and i loved it.

Chicksands, Porc would be quite intimadating for a first timer I reckon.

At least Chicksands has progressive table top jumps

PORC is real good but u need some skills and there's not any real beginner runs,

I dont want to go rushing in again and do what I did before so have just bought some new knee pads to save me a bit if/when i come off lol

Id had 3 goes down danbury and then spent a day at porc, the 4x is easy to get used to, rollable, the DH runs are hard, I did the easier of the runs and came off on the technical bits alot which is a slow part anyway. Certainly increased my ability fast, Im still desperate to head to chicky!

Well hopefully weather permitting (and finding out if bike will fit in the car) ill head up to chicksands on thursday.

Im Thinking of trying PORC out for the first time, Do i need a full blown downhill bike, what bikes are you guys using for this sort of place ?

Don't mean to plug, but I've got an iron horse Sunday for sale £800 if your interested..??

I used a commencal HD4, hardtail with 120mm travel. and was my first time over there. I found that ok although ive nothing to compare against. Suppose the less DH yur bike is the more you will have to compensate.
I did the 4x the runs and the quary ( dirt jumps) and found my bike to be ok.
but thats Just my opinion.

I visited porc for the first time last week (just starting riding 4x) on my blender and the 4x track is absolutely fine for a hardtail. For me the biggest problem after riding bmx tracks and chicky was the actual marking or the course as its not as obvious as others iv been to. But as already mentioned everything at porc is rollable so if you dont want to hit the jumps you can just roll them till you get the confidence to.
