Yea south ride for me... Last time I rode there got as far as the butlers retreat in Epping then took shelter under an Umbrella as the rain was just biblical...

Thorndon last night was nice and dry as a whole (did not have to wash the bike) but there are still places to avoid/mud sections to ride around

Aston Hill was riding really nice last night, dusty but still grippy after the beautiful summer of rain we have had.

There has also been some maintanence on the black run, mainly on the last berm and table top.

Also the 423 has been improved, to get ready for the race on the 9th September. It's also riding a lot better as a lot of the jumps and berms were getting nailed with the rain.

Also Surface to Air is looking nearly finished, really nice trail, some pretty big step ups and decent sized drops.

Thorndon getting better but still a fair bit of splat around especially in Hartswood etc, bike was still pretty caked up by the end of it...

Rode around Hylands Park today, very dry and compact in places, lots of dry bike tracks so makes for interesting direction changes, gullies still all sloppy and a few fallen trees in middle of wood and still boggy. But if your after any tent spares, they have four big skips full of them, even some still in the woods at he back by written road...

Not been out for ages but went around Hartswood/Thorndon at the weekend. Theres a horrible patch in Hartswood that is about a foot deep of liquid "quick mud", no doubt topped up with dog emptyings since the dog walkers have attempted to boobytrap everywhere near the golfcourse side. Bike bogs down and Five Tens fully immersed in shite up to my ankles, not pleasant.
Most of Thorndon was ok but hard to weave about and find a dry wide line in places.

Thorndon today for me was pretty fast, still a lot of mud about some deep and wet but there are lines around it now in most places. still some mud on the single track run in the holes but other than slowing for them it was very quick through there....

Thorndon drying out quite nicely. I did notice though, riding along the gravel bridle ways that run between north and south, the gravel has really loosened up. Alot of the finer stuff has just washed away forming small ruts of really loose chunky stones. There were a few 'moments' where the front wheel just slipped in the gravel, scary shit when you're blasting down hill.

Epping is great right now... get it while you can! The odd deep bog but they can be missed easily.

Anyone else here using the bridle ways between Thorndon North & South?

The gravel in this area is deadly, it never used to be so loose, have they added more on top or something?

South Epping was nice and dry, I think that's the first proper dry run I've had in 3 months!
